A short ode to overnight oats.

breakfast, fast, food, healthy, lifestyle

You are my favourite breakfast
Even though you are made at night
When I open the refrigirator
You are the shining light

When I have no time in the morning
It is you that I choose
Because with your perfect flavour
One simply cannot lose

Seriously now; I think overnight oats are like the perfect student breakfast
Afordable, super easy to make (plus they are perfect if you know you won’t have any time to cook in the morning) and sooooo delicious. Can’t believe I started making them just a couple of weeks ago! Such a mistake!

Go on, make some overnights.
You know you want to.

Super fast tortilla wraps!

fast, food, healthy, lifestyle, recipe

So I’m back again. I’ve been really busy these past several days, plus I moved back into my dorm room 😥
So that means no oven anymore (my soul is crying, yes)

I’ve been eating most of my meals in a student canteen, where we have subsidised meals, but I’m kind of fed up with that, you know?

So today I’ve decided to make some super fast tortilla wraps! (as the post title would suggest)

First of all, I’d like to say that I don’t really get our obsession to have pre-made products instead of making fresh food by ourselves.
Yes, I’m talking about tortillas.
It honestly takes you 5 minutes to make some and it’s super easy. All you need is some flour and water.

I used
4 tbsp of Graham flour
2 tbsp of warm water
2 pinches of salt
1 egg
1 tbsp of cottage cheese
1 sliced paprika

Make tortillas; bake them for like 3 minutes.
Make a pancake out of your egg and put it on cottage cheese covered tortilla. Put some delicious paprika on it.
(I also added some garlic powder, but that’s just me. And my garlic obsession.)

And you’re good to go!

It took me half an hour to make this meal – taking photos and washing the dishes included!

p.s. still no bakery for me! (yay!)

Oh no.

determination, food, lifestyle, willpower

So yesterday was a kind of a shitty day for me.
And I’m an emotional eater.
Yes, I know, but what the hell, I decided to be very true when writing this blog.
So yes, all I wanted to do was eat huge quantities of nice comfort food.
And that would be mostly- baked products.
And I have to tell you – I didn’t do that!
Okay, I still ate too much, but I was really determined to be strong when this decision of mine is concerned.
So I guess that as much as I’m angry woth myself for eating so much, another part of me is happy for taking just a little bit of control.
And next time – I’ll try even harder.

Pizzazz

food, healthy, lifestyle, recipe

Me again.

So yesterday morning I went to my friend’s house and she made me these delicious waffles (thanks, M :*)

I think I should really invest in getting one of those wafflemakers
Because, we all need one, right?

I felt kind of funny for the rest of the day so I just ate a salad and some fruits, so today I woke up really, REALLY hungry.

And so I decided to treat myself (and my flatmate, ofc) with a little bit of heaven: pizza.

I’m a pizza addict.
Seriously.
I lovelovelove it.
I used to eat it, well basically every day.
I just can’t get enough.
But of course, I started to feel kind of terrible after eating it. Because pizza really isn’t that healthy (go figure, right??).
So I decided to make my own, a little bit healthier version while I still have the oven (yes, it’s no oven starting next week). I always use this simple recipe for the crust and it never lets me down.

I used:

400g whole wheat flour
1 package of dry yeast
3 tbsp of olive oil
1 dcl of warm water
Just a little bit of salt
I don’t wait for the yeast to puff the crust, I just mix it and put it in the oven

And this time I topped it with
Tomato sauce, onions, zucchini, more tomatoes, gauda cheese and sour cream once it came out of the oven.

Bake it for 20min on 150°C and let the deliciousness begin.

Overdose

carbs?, food, healthy, lifestyle, yoga

Hello hi howdy.
Let’s start with the good things – still bakefree.
The bad thing- a had a very strong carb crave this weekend and I ate shitloads of pasta. Of course, I’m dying at the moment. My stomach is really really upset.
Don’t get me wrong, it was really delicious (zucchini, onion, carrots, minced meat, and a bit of saffron), but I just overate and overate….
And I feel sick (both literally and figuratively).

So last night I did some yoga. And it really was the thing to do.
I started the Erin Motz’ 30 day yoga challenge on youtube and I loved it!
Think I could maybe finish it (wow, goals).

And so now I’m eating a bowl of happiness and just thinking what to do with myself (because I just don’t know).

One more day

Still good.
Still no bakery.

Today I’ve made myself some barley with eggs, fresh carrots and paprika and spiced it with curry and garlic. It turned out great!

It took me about half an hour to make it and I think I’ll add it to my list of quick and healthy recipes.

A few weeks ago I’ve visited Greece and I bought some Greek saffran.
(Look how pretty it is!)

I’m really looking forward to cooking with it tomorrow. I just hope it will be edible.

Number 5!

food, healthy, lifestyle, recipe

So I went out yesterday. It was pretty eventful.
Croatians are awful. I hate our close-mindedness.
Won’t get into details, I’ll get too frustrated.
The important thing – no midnight pizza!
YAY ME

I actually ate some plums when I got home in the morning
+ points

And for my first student recipe
A stolen one from (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/12808/butternut-squash-soup-with-chilli-and-crme-frache)

It turned out really delicious
I just didn’t have any chilli peppers or butter
Nevertheless, it’s very yummy

Here’s a photo to prove it 🙂

Bakeryfree

Uncategorized

After manymany years of my addiction
I’ve decided to stop buying bakery products.
Completely.
I know it’s going to be a struggle, but
I feel that I really have to do it.
I’ve been feeling really sick eating endless bagels
and croissants and I’ve just had enough.
I mean, I still plan on eating homemade bread, rusks and protein
bread for now, but I hope to give them up as well in the future.

So.
Day one.

So far – so good. I’m staying strong. (At least for today.)
